2/8 As I have said before, it is UNACCEPTABLE that people are being denied items that they need RIGHT NOW. Yesterday, our frustration brought about the need for an immediate explanation resulting in the removal of the Head of the Emergency Management Bureau.
3/8 The people of #Ponce —and #PuertoRico in general—deserve that the state and federal authorities, law and order agencies open an investigation into this inhuman atrocity, and that this investigation holds accountable those responsible.
4/8 I spent several days requesting cots and water. They sent me to Cabo Rojo to look for the cots and to San Juan to look for water. If I had known these supplies were there, I would have demanded that they be released immediately. This has no place in the mercy of God!
5/8 Since yesterday, when we found out, we begin to make phonecalls and demand answers. The first thing I did was to ask that they look for who signed the rental agreement. The building belongs to Commerce and Economic Development, so there had to be a contract.
6/8 The contract was released to the public and those responsible were revealed. This episode shows the way + form in which the past administration managed the response to #HurricaneMaria in PR’s southern region. They never helped us!

7/8 No one can go unpunished. Our people have suffered a lot. I have been on the street watching fear and uncertainty overwhelm our people It is not right that some unscrupulous people in the government add to their unease. Service to our people is the very nature of government.
8/8 I am not going to get distracted. There are people who still need us. There will be those who want to come to take political advantage of this situation, but I will keep acting in favor of the people in vulnerable situations & from our communities, fighting for what's theirs.
