BTW just tactically, trolling & attacking are ineffective ways of gaining support for your candidate. I've never seen it work and it almost always backfires. The snake emoji swarms on Warren; the doctored video accusing Biden of attacking Social Security, the oped... to what end?
Seems that after realizing belatedly that attacking Biden tends to backfire (it has on every Dem who's tried it so far) Sanders is looking to pull the rough tactics back. But if Hillary Clinton is willing to go that hard on him and not even pledge to support if he's the nom? Eep!

This is good advice. Clinton lost an Electoral College race in a jump-ball election: ie a COMPARISON battle w/ a hardcore R base vs a fractured Dem base. A re-elect should be a REFERENDUM on the incumbent + 2 hardcore bases. It should be about keeping the president or not.
Trump targeted Biden & baits Bernie because he wants to re-create 2016: a comparison race + fractured Dems. Incumbents mostly win because they are a known quantity & voters tend to keep them if they can render the replacement unacceptable (switfboated Kerry or 47 percent Romney).
IOW any incumbent-from mayor to president-should be treated as a frontrunner. Incumbents are hard to beat barring some fatal misstep like Bush I raising taxes (helped the economy but broke a major promise) or maybe impeachment? Polls are fine but dont assume winning will be easy.

It is so deeply ironic to hear Ken Starr ... KEN STARR!!! ... argue that removing a president through impeachment is too grave a disruption without a bipartisan consensus. Bill Clinton won a popular vote AND EC vote TWICE; he was popular, and his impeachment was purely political.
Honest question to Republicans: what possible threat to national or domestic security did Clinton's consensual affair with a 24-year-old intern pose to this country? What threat did him lying about it out of embarrassment pose? What motive did Rs have to impeach besides party?
Ken Starr led that charge. He seemed to revel in it. Now he squares up to try and invalidate an impeachment based on an actual threat to national security and to a pending election, through the abuse of powers ONLY the president has? What planet is this?

To repeat my metaphor from earlier on @MSNBC & translate the Trump impeachment to regular-people-ese, say your state had a natural disaster, congress approved aid, and the president told your governor he could only get the $ if he announced an investigation of the lieut governor,
who plans to run for president in the upcoming cycle. It's about the president using governmental powers unique to him, for the sole purpose of getting himself re-elected. Now add that the natural disaster put national security assets at stake. That's what Trump did re Ukraine.
Ok it's actually an analogy but you get the idea 😌

I wake up again to the erasure of #Bernie's POC and women supporters, and to the fiction that his voters are more toxic than those of other candidates.

When @leeladaou and I began supporting him, the venom we got from his haters was ugly.

@leeladaou Every personal attack we got in 2016 from #Bernie voters who we argued with in 2016 was replicated in 2019 by his opponents.

They mobbed and harassed us, impugned our motives and character with the EXACT same intensity as those they claim are "bros."

With one big difference...
@leeladaou When we reached out to #NotMeUs with an olive branch it was more than reciprocated.

The so-called "bros" we bitterly argued with in 2016 embraced us with open arms.

#Bernie's movement is principled and truly diverse. Erasing them all as "raging white males" is a travesty.

I never used the term in 2016 because I thought it was too broad. But I still subscribed to the belief that virtually ALL online attacks in the Dem primary originated with Sanders supporters. THEY were the sole aggressors. But I see things more clearly now.

While it's true that some #Bernie supporters engaged in vicious attacks, that behavior is not exclusive to them. Saying positive things today about Sanders or negative things about Pelosi and Dem leaders can result in furious personal insults and smears.

This cycle, I see politics through an issue-focused rather than a candidate-focused lens. And I want to acknowledge that dismissing all progressives & leftists who are inspired by @BernieSanders as raging "bros" invisibilizes many young voters and people of color.

At the risk of sounding condescending I feel like there are 4 things we should ask in this primary.

1. What are your policies ?

2. Are you proposing them in good faith?

3. Will you be effective in implimenting them?

4. are you fit for office?

This needs unpacking...

So the hardest questions are 2-4.

Whether a politician is seen as operating in good faith is often tied to whether we think a politician is "authentic."

This shit is huuuuuuugely sexist and priveledges men over women.

The insistence by white male writers that there is a two-white-man race out there between Bernie & Beto is so deeply, stunningly misogynist, it takes my breath away.

How is it POSSIBLE that these folks missed the blue wave which was fundamentally female--driven by women voters?
Not just driven by women voters, but driven by women candidates. Left-leaning women candidates, including WOC who ousted long-time older white male incumbents like....Bernie Sanders.

How is anyone missing this fact?
It's a major reason why Sanders' numbers have plummeted.
