👋🏽there. I would make my same point for every one of @DCNorg's premium publisher members. Buying brand advertising on any premium publisher is worth more than simply targeting eyeballs (or devices/cookies) for clicks. The context of news & entertainment has value to advertisers.
Simply highlighting the Super Bowl which still has one of the strongest economic signals of worth to audiences. Ands this in sports category which remains the most significant sponsorship and brand pipeline (for digital, too). I have some experience in it - 100% digital. Cheers.
Here is some research on value of environment. No doubt, many advertisers will still buy microtargeting of eyeballs even through a middlemen who at times bundle in low-quality inventory. It's their right but there is a difference, yes? adweek.com/digital/ads-pr…
For example, when advertisers bought YouTube Preferred for the "News" and got users looking at Russia Today content, it happens. Or when they buy eyeballs/cookies and they end up on unmanaged user-generated content, it happens. @slpng_giants does a nice job flagging it.
