1/ THREAD: Body Language Analysis No. 4023T: Sen. Joni Ernst regarding Joe Biden and the Iowa Caucuses — Nonverbal and Emotional Intelligence (VIDEO, PHOTOS)
2/ Yesterday, during a break of Donald Trump's Senate Impeachment Trial — Senator Joni Ernst made some comments regarding The Iowa Caucuses and Joe Biden which deserve scrutiny.
3/ At the very beginning of this short video, just after Senator Barrasso says, "... -stion was on Joe Biden", Senator Ernst, interrupts, with both her verbal language and her body language.
4/ Earnst invades Barrasso's personal (intimate) space with a Finger-Point-Hand-Chop — her right index finger (forefinger) pointing at his face, neck, and upper chest. 
5/ Index finger-pointing on its own is highly offensive across all cultures. When it's coupled with a personal space invasion — as well as the additional chopping dynamic, it's particularly alienating. Remember, these senators are both republicans w/ essentially identical views.
6/ Sen. Ernst has what appears to be a smile as she is making her statement — however, if you're observant, you'll notice her signs of significant insincerity.
7/ Notice how her jaw is extended far forward. With true joy-happiness (both during smiling as well as laughter), the jaw is retracted (temporarily pulled inward).
8/ A jaw jut is a sign of an adrenaline surge and is not indicative of true joy-happiness. This upper face vs. lower face disparity is a strong signal of Ernst's cognitive-emotional dissonance.
9/ A half-second later, as Senator Barrasso concedes his camera time to Senator Ernst — while his own jaw is jutting forward as well. In addition, his lips temporarily morph into a thinned-out horizontal configuration.
10/ The tissue beneath his nose and above his upper lip (termed the 'mustache area') is also tense and stretched. His nostrils are flared. Barrasso's evanescent facial expression is a microexpression of anger.
11/ At 3-second mark, Sen. Ernst displays a Hair Adjustment Behind her Ear (HABE) maneuver. This nonverbal dynamic is seen in all genders regardless of hair length.
12/ The Hair adjustment behind the ear dynamic indicates a person's psyche recognizes the need to up-regulate their alpha-beta emotional tone (i.e., Alpha individuals who, temporarily are feeling a bit more beta and are trying to 'dial it back up').
13/ Senator Ernst then proceeds to display a bilateral variation of a Finger-Point Hand-Chop (A total of 8 times).
14/ The finger-point hand chopping dynamic is highly correlative with the act of actively defending a lie — whilst simultaneously trying to camouflage it by project self-righteousness.
15/ She then displays a similar watered-down variation of the hand-chop — only with her fingers and thumbs in a closed-loop configuration — called the 'Political Point' hand-chop (17 times).
16/ This nonverbal gesture is considerably less alpha (thus more beta) compared with the immediately previous finger-point hand-chop. This closed-loop configuration, particularly when following the finger-pointing signals Ernst's underlying cognitive-emotional dissonance.
17/ Notice also the multiple examples of Ernst's elevated forehead and eyebrows. The most common tell of an insincere personality is someone who uses these muscles/this facial expression too frequently.
18/ You may have noticed Sen. Ernst said, "... will they be supporting Pres- [stutter] Vice President Biden at this point". She started to call Vice President Biden, President Biden. Immediately following her Freudian-slip, she displayed an expression of fear.
19/ Continued fear over a Biden Presidency
20/ Near the end of this video she claps a single clap and then intertwines her fingers — betraying her frustration. Further supporting this emotional tone, Ernst's jaw is clenched along with a prolonged blink.
21/ At the very end of the video, we see Ernst from her left side in profile. Her jaw is again clenched and jutting forward (adrenaline surge) with thinned lips and flared nostrils of anger. She's also displaying a component of regret in this moment.
22/ SUMMARY: Joni Ernst was displaying considerable cognitive-emotional dissonance in her statement yesterday during Trump's Impeachment Trial. The Senator is feeling significantly beta. Despite her attempts at glee, she is feeling defensive and fears a Biden Presidency.

23/ Senator Ernst is also being deceptive. Her insincerity is further evidenced by her significant frustration as well as anger.
