The old conventional wisdom is that the Palestinians have hideous leadership, which they might someday get rid of, if the rest of the world keeps reaching out to them. Trump is a rare Western leader who sees the absurdity of that belief.
The Palestinian people are the brainwashed captives of a death cult that rules them with an iron fist while its leaders get filthy rich off foreign aid. That racket isn't going ANYWHERE unless it's broken up. It's one of the most lucrative organized crime operations in history.
There is no scenario in which the monsters who rule the Palestinians will ever be persuaded to give up their racket for the good of their people. They've got money, weapons, ideological fervor, and opportunities to murder Jews. Why give that up for some "peace deal?"
If the Palestinian leadership accepted any deal, even the most generous offer, they'd be required to act like a responsible nation. There would be more accountability for the money they're given. Their "president" wouldn't get to rule for 13 years without facing voters.
Under the toxic ideology imposed upon the Palestinian people for generations, leaders who made a reasonable deal with Israel would be seen as traitors to the sacred cause and probably would be killed. Why would they give up a lucrative racket and risk death to become statesmen?
Palestinian leaders sure don't feel any overwhelming international pressure to become anything better than gangsters. They've got terror-symp allies all over the West. The entire Democrat leadership instantly leaped to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Hamas against Trump's deal.
The only way to break this vicious cycle of murder and failure is to make the Palestinian leadership understand the racket is ending. Step one has to be something like Trump's deal, which dispenses with most of the old illusions. It won't be accepted, but it's still important.
There's nothing surprising about the savage Palestinian reaction to Trump's proposal, but the reaction of certain people in the West is more important. It's flushing out terror-symps in U.S. Democrat Party and across the world. Those people must be isolated, shamed, and defeated.
The ideal strategy is to move into Trump's second term with the Palestinian terrorist leadership seeing their international support base crumbling. No, the Democrats won't save you any more. The rabid Left has been defeated. The anti-Semites are on the run. You're alone now.
Of course, that assumes such is the outcome of the 2020 election, but it's hardly unreasonable for Trump to base his strategy on the assumption that he'll be around to see it through. He must also know the Palestinian gangsters will wait to see if their Democrat pals win in 2020.
Assuming 2020 goes Trump's way, the next step will be dismantling the foreign aid racket that keeps Palestinian terrorist leaders rich. There should be very little money going into the Palestinian sinkhole after this deal is rejected. Shift to delivering humanitarian goods.
That change should be concurrent with breaking the back of the Iranian economy through sanctions. Taking away the money Obama foolishly gave Iran means Iran has no money to support Palestinian terrorism.
There will be political upheavals among both Iranians and Palestinians when the former tell the latter they can no longer pay lavishly to support them or send them weapons. Some bodies will drop. Islamic terrorist organizations are absolutely vicious when they turn on each other.
Then, when the Palestinian gangster leadership sees its money and political support are gone, and it's reduced to withholding food and medicine from the people to maintain its grip on power - it WILL do that, and it will be impossible for Western lefties to excuse or cover up...
... THEN Trump and his allies, which includes most of the power players in the Arab world, can return to the table with roughly the same proposal. They will no longer be dealing with people who think intransigence is a winning strategy for them personally.
Palestinian leaders don't give a damn about their people - they teach the people to see themselves as disposable cannon fodder in a holy war. The only way the stalemate breaks is ending the racket that keeps the leadership rich and makes bloody eternal jihad possible. /end
