PS/ Warren knows the Senate may be looking at a 50-50 tie. Senators have only *one* way to "speak" to the Chief Justice to let him know that SCOTUS "laying low" is a *non-option*—it *will* be harmed by standing by this madness. I say Warren put ample thought behind what she did.
PS2/ Jed is saying that—at a moment when America is collapsing because its institutions are retreating inside their shells, just *hoping* America will still be here when they emerge—"calling out" anyone is always counterproductive. Why can't we just let them hide in their shells?
PS3/ What Warren did was the best worst option available. I don't think it's the sort of thing any of us would *normally* do. But it's a real failure of perception not to see that we're in the final day of there being *boundaries* to what a president can do to steal an election.
PS4/ To be clear, I wasn't quoting Roberts. I was saying that his plan for how to preside over the impeachment trial was the equivalent of him saying the sentence I put in quotes. I think everyone knows this, but Roberts has not made public statements about his view of the trial.
