Graham apparently got Sen. Alexander to sign on to a question premised on the idea that John Bolton’s testimony would not be outcome determinative
This goes to something that’s been at the back of my mind. It was arguably a total blunder for McConnell to set up this first upcoming vote as a vote on the *idea* of witnesses and evidence rather than a vote to simply dismiss the articles.
Most arguments the WH has been making are essentially arguments to dismiss—that the articles as written could never justify impeachment. They’re not great ones, imo, but they’re normal. McConnell’s rules put them in this place of being against the Kantian ideal of evidence too.
