3- Today, we will focus on another essential skill- Problem Solving. Problem solving is sort of connected with Critical Thinking, but it is still quite different. I will explain it and show you how you can develop this skill from campus.

4- A problem is simply something difficult to solve. You know the solution, but its difficult to get it solved. This skill is different from critical thinking in that CT helps you when there is no apparent solution or you need a easier way.

5- While Problem Solving keeps you going when you have no choice than to go through the long process of solving a particular thing. CT makes you creative. PS makes you persistent. Both are behavioral skills that can be learned.

6- Difficult situations occur everywhere and you need to be persistent in resolving matters that are difficult. You must cultivate a mindset that pushes you not to give up and to be creative in solving problems.

7- Think of it this way:Intelligence and Brilliance. They are different things, but related. Intelligence is the brain's ability to retain info, sharp in understanding and also releasing answers A great measure of it come from your parent's gene

8- Other factors that contribute to intelligence are upbringing, diet (especially at babyhood) and health. They can help to improve your intelligence. The measurement of it is what is referred to as Intelligence Quotient (IQ)

9- Brilliance, on the other hand is the brain's library. It's like GIGO. You need to read before you can be termed brilliant. Reading fuels brilliance. So an intelligent person needs to feed his intelligence with reading.

10- In this context, I will liken Intelligence to Critical Thinking and Brilliance to Problem Solving. CT will make you ready to take on any challenge, but problem solving gives you the information you need to be use your CT ability.

11- To develop problem solving ability, develop interest in challenging situations- not life threatening please. Get experienced in solving problems. You will need it irrespective of your career line.

13- Take chess seriously. You will be amazed. If you don't have chess available to you, go for video games. They have a place in this too. You can dedicate a period of time for this. Apart from its relaxing power, it also improves your brain.
