sensible article in NYT nytimes.com/2020/02/06/wor… showing implausibility of US attribution of attack near Kirkuk, which killed US contractor, to Iraqi militia (Kataib Hz) when ISIS remnants active in area. I made same observation almost immediately.
2/ US used this (almost certainly) false attribution to kill 25 Iraqi soldiers fighting ISIS in western Iraq hundreds of miles away in blindside attack by supposed "ally". Like Israel, which also attacks Iraqi anti-ISIS soldiers, it called them "Iranian proxies" to "justify".
3/ this murder of Iraqi soldiers naturally led to large protests against US embassy in Baghdad, to which US responded by assassination of Qasem Soleimani, the most prominent anti-ISIS and anti-AlQaeda military leader in the region.
4/ the entire affair appears to have been initiated by yet another piece of disinformation by US intel community which acted in direction of precipitating war. This has happened far too often in my lifetime. They ought to have no more credence than Adam Schiff.
