Candidate for the coolest car in the world: Duesenberg #1, owned by the same family for 100 years
*Duesenberg passenger car #1; Iowa boys Fred & Augie Duesenberg first car designs were for Mason and Maytag-Mason in Iowa around 1908, then began building Duesenberg race cars in Indy during the ‘teens. Also produced engines for a few makes before this car.
During the early days of car making, Michigan was the home of mass produced, low cost cars; Indiana though was home of fast expensive exotics- Mercer, Stutz, Marmon, Auburn, Cord, along with the ultimate King of the Hill, Duesenberg
Duesenbergs were putting out over 300 horsepower in an era when a typical car had 30-40. It’d be like a 2000 horsepower car now, and a Model J is still a relatively fast car by current standards
