The power of money has been corrupting human behaviour & society ever since it was first invented, which was a long time ago. The British, more than anyone, refined this corruption.

As a means of exchange, money is essential. What is so corrupting about it is its ability to create more money. Anyone with enough money need not work, but can simply let their money work for them.

Money & property are interchangeable. Anyone with a surplus of either, i.e. more than they need for their own use, can use this surplus to create unearned income, which is perverse.
It is not just perverse, but also what is driving our mercenary, rapacious, driven & thus inherently unsustainable global economy.
And what do most social science academics do? They rationalise this madness, because it is the source of their own generous salaries & pensions.
