What matters is purpose limitations. A majority of google and Facebook’s data is truly third party collected out of context. It’s collected when you’re not even intending to interact with either company. As much as browsers and law focuses here, we’ll all be better off. (2 of 2)
The key is to make certain google and Facebook’s products have competition in which they succeed/fail based on their customer satisfaction and truth. By allowing them to collect data across the web, our lives we’ve let them claim profits/revenues/role of entire internet.
If you want to disrupt them quickly in line with consumer expectations, restrict G/FB’s ability to collect/use/profile data across their services and across the web/apps/devices/net ala German Federal Cartel Office v Facebook. Voila.
