We need to talk about this fake video. I do NOT agree with Pelosi camp that it should be taken down by Facebook/Twitter. But it’s absolutely misleading, should be labeled and lose all velocity + reach benefits of social media (no retweets or shares). This scene never happened 👇🏾
Also since Facebook won’t ban microtargeting of political ads, video will get worse and more microtargeted. both parties will have open season as @parscale and @GaryCoby use political pressure and false arguments to keep Facebook serving their interests. washingtonpost.com/technology/202… 
Again, I can buy into no taking down of political material especially in paid ads but microtargeting suppresses counterspeech. False info plus microtargeting are toxic to democracy. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/…
Bumping this all back up here as @DanScavino and @realDonaldTrump continue to push the video out. Again, the other party and politicians around the world will only go deeper pushing disinfo through microtargeted ads if Facebook fails to act with courage as Google did 🙌🏽).
I respect the POV and concern but there will be more complicated political speech and having a tech platform make the decision is also concerning (although it is their right as a private platform). Better to label it misleading and eliminate any social media benefits to it.
