@patel4witham in every debate about #windrush there is a lot of buck-passing between parties about who was originally responsible for the hostile environment and who should be blamed

@patel4witham and it is true that many have experienced problems for decades because they haven't had documentation that proved their status, but it is disingenuous to suggest that this is a problem which has been caused by successive governments

@patel4witham because the problems experienced by most of those affected were radically worsened with the raft of hostile environment policies introduces with the 2014 and 2016 immigration acts which were designed to cut net migration to the tens of thousands

@patel4witham there were numerous warnings about the possible negative effect of these policies on people who arrived in this country for decades as children from the Commonwealth, but they were ignored
