How to make money with web design in 2020, a thread:

Learn how to create a website

- Carrd
- WordPress + Elementor (recommended)
- Webflow (recommended)
- Wix
- Squarespace

Pick one, learn it by creating a website for yourself

Watch tutorials and build along with them

Identify who you want to work with

- Personal brands
- Local businesses
- Ecom stores
- etc

You can narrow this down further if you want

I.E. Fitness related personal brands

Create 3 "fake" websites as a portfolio

Make them look nice

How?

Look at competitor websites and pull inspiration from them (do not copy the entire website please)

Make sure these look professional... something that your target client would want

Find clients

- Google
- Social media
- Yelp
- Networking events
- Friends and family

You'd be surprised how many people don't have a website, or have an ugly one

Understand the value that your website will bring to your target client

For a personal brand:

More course sales?
More coaching sign ups?
More email subscribers?

Whatever it is, use this as a selling point

Email/message/speak as a human being

This message is not about you, it is about how you can help them

Don't go straight for the sale

Be smart about this part. What message will make them respond and want to talk to you more?

Schedule a phone call

Talk to them, ask them how business is going, ask them about their goals with their biz

Position your offer as a way to help them achieve their goals (2 tweets above, how your website provides value)

Send them an invoice

Get paid

Gather necessary information for the website

Make it look amazing, spend day and night doing this if you have to
