In the heart of Aravali lies the Islamic building known as ADHAI DIN KA JHONPRA. Though, often neglected in the discussions of destroyed temples, yet a prime example of the questionable nature of ASI and its intent.
Originally a sanskrit college and a magnificent temple within it, dedicated to Maa sarasvati.
It was constructed by Vigraha Raj IV (1150-1164)(Uncle of Prithavi Raj III) of Chauhan dynasty of sakambhari.
The story goes that after defeating Prithviraj III,
As Mohammad Ghori passed through Ajmer and saw the magnificent temple, he immediately ordered Qutub-din aibak to destroy it and to construct a mosque within 60 hours. Hence the name Adhai(2.5) din ka Jhonpra.
After that fanaticism it was ignored for centuries untill it got renovated(but still as mosque) by Maratha king Daulat Rao Sindhia(1779-1827).

It was handed over to ASI after 1947.

*adhai din ka jhonpra 1870
Today it's impossible to identify which part of the mosque are from the original Sarasvati temple and the gurukula as it contains flinders from over 30 demolished hindu and jain temples from nearby areas.
One can clearly see the hindu origins of the place, from Pillars to ceiling and domes, every inch of this place is full of evidence.

Many of the pillars feature several four-armed figures(Hard to identify as most of them have been wiped out) and other typical temple decorations
But here comes the legendary ASI.

No ASI boards on site or anywhere reads anything about its past, ASI board just stats that its a mosque constructed by Qutubdin and the oldest surviving monument of AJMER.
For random unknowing visitors, ASI (intentionally/unintentionally) projects it as a "DHAI DIN KA WONDER"
