Baby Boomers had a living wage.
Baby Boomers had (mostly) free college.
Baby Boomers enjoyed an infrastructure built with a 90% marginal tax rate on the rich.

Bernie is crushing the youth vote simply because he wants to give them the same things Baby Boomers had.
The massive caveat of the above tweet is that these privileges were overwhelmingly enjoyed by WHITE (mostly male) Baby Boomers.

To be perfectly clear: health care is a right and a living wage should be available to all people from all backgrounds and it wasn't during this time.

At their age, Baby Boomers owned *32%* of the country's real estate value.

Call me old-fashioned, but I sorta think kids should have a BETTER world than their parents did.

@drvox It’s a different understanding of power. One believe instituions must be changed from the top, from the inside. The other believes institutions are often impediments and must be remade, dismantled and resembled in order to do the will of the people. Each had its strengths.
@drvox The ACA is a great example of the first understanding of power working very well. Obama didn’t get everything he wanted but he insured 22 million. Those to the left of him wanted to walk away over the loss of the public option. This would have killed the whole thing.
@drvox The civil rights movement, the marriage equality movement, the protests against the Vietnam war, are all examples of power wielded outside institutions meant to remake them to do the will of the people they are supposed to serve.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was Elizabeth Warren's idea.

She proposed it BEFORE the financial collapse bc she knew PREDATORY lending was going hurt people.

It has returned *$12.4 BILLION* to working people cheated by financial companies.

Willie Simmons is a black man from Alabama currently serving a LIFE SENTENCE for stealing $9.

Never let anyone tell you justice is blind in America. It only sees color.
Willie Simmons is an army veteran who spent the past *38* years in jail because he stole $9.

He is a victim of the cruel, racist habitual offender law (similar to 3-strikes laws) which rob people of their humanity for political points.

At some point it will sink in that Bernie Sanders appeals to young voters by offering them the things Baby Boomers took for granted -- living wage, reliable health care, essentially free college -- and the radical thing is that almost everyone else isn't.
This becomes a winning proposition when you make the case the only way to make sure Boomers and everyone have guaranteed health care and a decent life is to go back to taxing and treating rich people and corporations the way we did when Boomers were growing up.
I'm not saying Baby Boomers had it easy, they weren't Trump inheriting millions from tax fraud at age 8.

This thread just helps explain how the costs families face now have risen while wages haven't and the richest have sucked up all the gain.

Thread: Youth versus Age and Experience

1. American culture pays excessive homage to youth, vim and vigor – for many reasons. For example, attractive young people make good salesmen in movies and in the myriad of commercials on TV.
2. The progressive Left like to exploit young people for political reasons. And they’re easy to use due to lack of experience and general gullibility, especially when the foundation has been laid by leftist-oriented public education in a secular society without boundaries.
3. Since the Left want to tear down America and remake it into their idiotic view of a “socialist paradise,” exploiting youth to foment change – whether on campuses across the nation, in the streets (Antifa), or now in Congress (!) – is a very useful political tactic for them.
