Just listened to the interview about Assange on @BBCr4today. Almost entirely focussed on him being a bad person (correct) and Wikileaks being an irresponsible org (correct). But the extradition request is troubling for separate reasons - the criminalisation of a publication

Defending human rights sometimes means defending people and orgs which are problematic. But that’s what ‘universal’ human Rights are, they aren’t dependent on the character of a person
Assange has behaved disgracefully by evading sexual assault allegations. It might reasonably be said that by doing so he has sacrificed the huge good will towards him and Wikileaks which he needs to fight this request. But Trump’s request is still very troubling
