Harry Reid was asked about it last week - and he didn't deny it

Pat Leahy was also asked about it last week - and he didn't deny it

multiple people remember being very worried in 2011 that Sanders was going to run a primary against Obama, and that Reid had two conversations with Sanders about it that summer. The only people who say that is not the case are Sanders and people who work for him.
This isn't the first conversation with a fellow senator that Sanders says didn't occur the way the other senator remembers it: there was also the conversation from late 2018 with Elizabeth Warren in which she says he said a woman couldn't win, and he says he didn't say that.
Sanders also made a separate claim tonight that is easily verifiable as not true:
Here’s the full Sanders answer, in which he goes straight from saying that Harry Reid and Pat Leahy will deny that he was talking seriously about running against Obama in 2011 (they didn’t) into making it about Warren maybe running... in 2016 (Ie, not against Obama)
Beyond Sanders’s talk of a primary challenge, there was what was driving it: “deep disappointment” he said he&many Americans felt w/Obama over not being progressive enough (for example, here: ).Now he says Obama is an “icon.” Has not explained what changed.
Sanders’s take on Obama was very consistent over the years: he appreciated the movement Obama had built in his 2008 campaign but felt that Obama had quickly moved off his campaign promises to too often concede to Republicans. He kept that criticism up through 2016.
