My debate verdict: Bernie finally took a few straight-on punches to the face, and the fact that he handled them so poorly suggests he's gonna have issues as nominee when that's all Trump will be doing. Biden had his best debate ever, when he needed it. But Sanders still the guy.
Substance? I LOL snottily at your quibbles on "substance." This is American politics in 2020, nobody reacts to substance, they react to demeanor and presentation. And Biden was, for once, on top of his game in that respect. Bernie was genuinely flustered for the first time.
I think this means Biden may hang on to SC. But given that the Super Tuesday states have been early voting** for a long time now, I don't see Bernie losing pole position.

**reminder: early voting is garbage, it should be banned by law and only absentee ballots with cause allowed

I've actually been giving a lot of thought to Wisconsin (obviously a state the @DecisionDeskHQ has long been obsessed with) in the run-up to November 2020, and this is just one analyst's opinion, but here are the dynamics I see in play...
First, you start with the reality that Trump's numbers in WI are notably stronger than they have been nationally. For a swing state, it's notable that none of the D challengers have ever been able to get more than a pt ahead of him in state polling. (Compare w/2016, when he WON).

Lots of red-state tweeters telling me that Chicago is a sh*thole & who would ever want to live here, etc.

Look: it has real, perhaps intractable problems. But come see the skyline, visit in the winter when's it's cold and snowy and breezy, or in summer when you walk the river.
As I said earlier, I could dictate a litany of curses abt Chicago (& IL state) gov't, and they'd all be true. But it's a beautiful city, heartbreakingly beautiful. Our skyline, these buildings: this is America. This is our grandest, grander than NYC.

Also, Chicago dogs are great

Either old offensive tweets matter or they don't. It's as simple as that. It seems like you would carve out an exemption for the media, one you would deny to its victims.

Or maybe we could just stop doing "routine social media checks" (what a euphemism; it's oppo!) entirely.
Here's a novel thought: it's not newsworthy what a guy raising money for children's hospitals wrote on Twitter when he was 16. In fact, if discovered, it should be actively suppressed and hidden, not reported on. The public *shouldn't* have a right to know.

Crazy, I know.
In all honesty, it's the *editor* (or however many editors that okayed the idea of discussing the kid's social media from when he was 16) who should have been fired here. This is a question of *news judgment* and judging that to be publishable or relevant is unforgivable.
