Welp.
To be clear: Klobuchar’s bad non-answers regarding her treatment of the Myon Burrell case led to tonight’s protest, and my “welp” was a reference to the fact that she canceled her “homecoming” rather than face protesters and answer their questions.

One or two opinions coming from #SCOTUS.
First #SCOTUS opinion is in Kansas v. Garcia, with a 5-4 ruling against implied federal preemption of a Kansas criminal law relating to immigrant’s employment documents. Alito has the majority, Breyer the dissent (on the implied preemption point). supremecourt.gov/opinions/19pdf…
This is a win for states seeking to take more harsh actions against immigrants.

That also is the only opinion today.

#Resistance Twitter created an unusual moment. It really was a group of people coming together in common cause who don’t otherwise necessarily have a lot in common. There’s been lots of talk about the grifters and the #NeverTrump Republicans, but the celeb aspect is notable, too.
Many people were able to read a lot of themselves or at least their hopes for “fixing things” into all three of those groups. As efforts proceed to do so electorally, though, people are starting to split back off again. It’s jarring — but also somewhat inevitable.
I’m still 🤭 by the Bette’s tweets myself, for example. But, at least for the Democrats among all of those people, it’s a primary — and it’s a real fight for the party’s direction and vision. So, we’re having at it. And I think that does make our party — and governing — stronger.

LA DA Lacey confirms that her husband pulled a gun on peaceful protesters at her front door this morning.
Lacey suggests that she and her husband didn't know what was happening — and yet her husband opened the door and addressed them.
"He meant no one any harm," Lacey says, when her husband opened the door, raised his gun, and said, "I will shoot you. ... I don't care who you are."

Black Lives Matter protesters gathered to protest the event, and the man with the group stole the microphone from councilwoman Sharon McBride.

"Who chose these people as the black leaders?" the man shouted on the microphone. "Who organized this?"
At one point in the video, a black woman appears to try to attack the man with her cane.

After the microphone was taken from him, the man got the protesters to chant, "This is a farce!"

The bodies were still in the morgue, if even, when progressive “carrion-picking crows” started politicizing the murders. But everything they said about gun control, “white nationalism,” and Trump’s culpability was based on lies and recycled stale clichés for political gain.
The argument that more gun control laws will lessen substantially such murders has been disproven with facts over and over. In the Nineties, gun homicides fell by half, even as the number of guns increased 56%.

“I’m not asking for your vote,” Buttigieg tells her.
Protesters have asked Pete Buttigieg to sign a petition calling for a DOJ investigation into the officer-involved shooting of Eric Logan, but Buttigieg says it contains language that could be deemed prejudicial. Asked if he’ll be the first to sign a clean petition, he says “Yes.”
