#GreggCounty TX 1st confirmed COVID19 patient.
For those who may not know.

Gregg county is the Longview area in E. Texas.

Travel related case. Tested 3/3. Result announced today.

Will stay in quarantine 2 more weeks while recovering at home.

And to answer my questions on testing Mar 3 & announcement delay and where traveled.

HIPAA doesn't prevent disclosure of travel area.
Tested in Austin lab. I'm assuming they then waited for CDC confirmation test before announcing.

UPDATE - Dr. Robert Pace rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in Fort Worth, attended the Consortium of Endowed Episcopal Parishes conference 2/20-21 in Louisville.

He is hospitalized w/ #COVID19 pneumonia. Wife has tested neg so far.

Egypt was not on CDC travel list when patient presented

100 being monitored due to association w/ cases

1 patient confirmed @ active retirement community in Fort Bend County and another monitored.

Anyone who traveled on M.S. A'sara cruise traveling to and from Aswan, Egypt between Feb. 12 and March 5, 2020 may have been exposed to COVID-19

Some thoughts on our collective reaction to #COVIDー19/#CoronaVirus:

Those who think the health effects have been overblown are likely right. It’s NOT likely as deadly as some have predicted & it’s NOT going to be as widespread in the US as it has been in other countries 1/
But here’s the rub: we’re still *under reacting*. We need to continue closing down large events, suspending schools, working from home — we should be seeking & embracing a month of *social isolation* not just *social distancing* Why?

The issue w/ #CoronaVirus is how fast it spreads. It is going to overwhelm our institutions. Period.

The cascade of chaos will cause far more suffering than the virus. We need to throttle this thing. We can’t snuff it out entirely, but minimizing the impact is priority

My uncle just tested positive for the coronavirus. He lives in Venice, CA.

I’ve not been in direct contact with him, so we are not at risk from him, but I want to relay how the health department has managed his case. #COVID
He was skiing in the Italian alps with 6 other guys. 4 of them, including my uncle, now have the coronavirus. One is in a coma. two are sick, and my uncle has not presented any symptoms as of yet. He self-quarantined and called the health department. #COVID
A few days later they tested him and yesterday he found out he’s positive. Meanwhile, they’ve told my aunt to wear a mask, stay 10 feet away from my uncle, and otherwise she is free to move about the community. And, she has — to grocery stores, the hair salon, etc. #COVID

- Government in a complete reversal taken #COVID seriously
- As per contacts, many stay indoors if they can

The BAD:
- Explosion of cases in new cities
- Tehran seems to be next
