There's now going to be a tremendous pressure on #Bernie supporters to back Biden. I don't tell people how to vote. But if it were me I'd flatly refuse to swing in behind. Centrist, corporate liberalism is not the right wing of a movement that socialism is the left wing of 1/
They are dramatically opposed world views. Rather, Biden is a wing of the same establishment as Trump. Their policies are largely the same, and the intended consequences of their policies are the same 2/
You will remember the howls at #Bernie supporters to back Biden last time. So it's worth asking, would Clinton have made the global situation less dangerous than Trump in the last few years? I very much doubt it 3/
It was put well by @ReubenTheRed at the time - if you were a Muslim living inside the US in 2016, you might want Clinton to win. If you were a Muslim living outside the US, you might as well want Trump to win. The sorry options when politics offers 2 ruling elite choices 4/
Imagine Clinton had won. There's a good chance she would have taken an even more hostile stance to Iran, intervened even harder in Yemen...sought to topple Assad? Imagine the worsening crisis in ME, the even more intense refugee crisis 5/
It's not impossible that the intensifying global crisis under Clinton would have contributed even more to the rise of the global far right than Trump. At the very least, such a scenario cannot be discounted. So don't imagine you can practice damage limitation here 6/
Even more bizarre were demands for Melanchon to publicly sponsor Macron to defeat Le Pen in France. This would have meant self-liquidation by the left, which is precisely why the centre demanded it. They'd rather politics was centre vs far right than centre vs left 7/
In western politics today, each centre regime should be understood as the preparatory regime for the next far right regime. The centre feeds the far right with ideas, with moral legitimacy. The create a base for the far right with racism and inequality 8/
'Globalisation' is a grand blueprint for the ethos of the far right - grossly undemocratic, violent, racist and celebratory of exploding global and national inequalities. It is not the opposite of the far right 9/
There's no alternative to the elaboration of a consistent and independent working class, socialist left. That means not liquidating our stock every time one wing of capital seeks to enlist us against another 10/
