President @realDonaldTrump is going to declare a National Emergency over Coronavirus less than a week after the World Health Organization declared it a pandemic. For context: President Obama declared Swine Flu a National Emergency almost 5 months after WHO declared it a pandemic.
Those defending Obama’s Swine Flu response are responding saying he declared a PHE before WHO declared a pandemic. A PHE doesn’t grant the same powers a National Emergency does. Trump declared a PHE over a month before too AND he’s doing a NE declaration almost 5 months earlier.
To be super clear Obama & Trump declared Public Health Emergencies over a month before WHO declared Swine Flu & coronavirus a pandemic BUT Trump is declaring a National Emergency 2 days after WHO declared a pandemic. Obama waited nearly 5 months after 1,000 died to declare a NE.

That’s a fair question. I’m bringing it up because Obama admin officials like Ben Rhodes are pretending the Obama admin would’ve acted more quickly when evidence shows they did not.

My overarching point though, pandemics are hard no matter who the president is. Dem leaders should probably look at dates & evidence before they try to politicize a literal virus. The Trump admin has reacted just as swiftly & in some ways, like the NE declaration, more swiftly.
