By now, everyone is familiar w/ the exponential new case growth curve. I'd like to introduce another if clinicians are not #PPE protected. Not only will we lose their service (Infection, sick, death) but non-#COVID19 patients will be hit; each clinician cares for tens of patients
We can start with getting every #healthcare worker tested now. And again if negative. And again.
And demand the right protective gear for all now.
There is simply no excuse.

Paper claims 86% asymptomatic carrier rate, but it’s all modeling. I’d like to see empirical evidence via serosurvey or similar.

Take blood out of arms, use new serology test to look for antibodies, ask people if they had symptoms. That’d be convincing.

@apoorva_nyc Lest context be lost on Twitter, this is not meant as an attack in any way. Just that I am skeptical of the claim in the absence of empirical data. It’s possible, but it seems sensitive to their model parametrization.

People are asking whether patients with COVID19 who don’t have symptoms, e.g. cough or even just fever, can transmit the disease to others. The answer seems to be yes. Alas, this is not good news, but we can still take rational steps. Let’s talk about this. #QuarantineLoophole 1/
Should you avoid getting near symptomatic relatives? Yes, alas. What about college students or travelers returning home who aren't showing symptoms? That’s harder. If they could have been exposed, you should practice social distancing for a while, even if they're asymptomatic. 2/
If people are asymptomatic but have credibly been exposed to COVID19, they should be in home quarantine for 14 days, to be safe. But for how long can someone be asymptomatic and still transmit? It appears that this is on the order of 2-4 days. 3/

Si le journal l’accepte, il s’engage à publier l’étude *quel que soit son résultat*, positif ou nul
Ça permet que les chercheurs ne soient plus incités à rendre leur étude aussi sexy que possible pour qu’elle soit publiée, et ça permet que les journaux arrêtent de ne publier que les résultats positifs (qui trouvent un effet, confirmant l’hypothèse du chercheur)
