In the midst of all of this, I'm seeing what the new normal will be for a while. And my pastor's heart breaks. I think I better understand now what Paul meant when he would write to his friends and say my heart longs for you. #Pastor #COVID19 #coronavirus
I'm thankful tho for this heartbreak. The spiritual journey always begins with heartbreak. The Sufis call it tauba. But this kind of heartbreak is not something to be fixed. It's an opening to the life of God. My heart break for my church confirms the existence of love.
And love is not just known in rapture, connectedness, feelings of delight. Love is sometimes best known in tears. In the clarifying power of absence.
So I'm holding these broken pieces like treasures and precious gemstones. Knowing God collects our tears, and "remembers everything violence forgets" as my friend @DavidDark would say.
