What I am saying is epidemiologists can discuss ways to stop a virus from spreading. What they don’t tell us is the ECONOMIC COST of stopping the virus from spreading. Everything is cost benefit analysis.
Every day in our economy we make decisions that cause deaths because we decide the economic benefit is worth it. Cars, alcohol, fast food, all of these things kill people, often much more than viruses do. We have never shut down the national economy for a virus before.
My concern is we don’t really know the economic ramifications of a decision like this. And, significantly, that almost no one is discussing this cost.
I think it’s because people are afraid of being attacked on social media for being pro-death as if there’s such a thing. Yes, we should try to protect life, but not at the expense of shutting down our entire economy in the process. (Okay, back to NFL free agency).
