1. Why progressives are less influential than they should be. It is not because of "the establishment." It's because of YOU. People gain power by becoming reliable voters - even if it is for someone who is not your top choice. YES, the lesser of two evils, as you call everyone...
2...is less evil. You say everyone who isn't your candidate is no different than republicans. Just because that candidate supports 80-90% of what you want, while the GOPr will fight to the death to block it all. You pretend that nothing but the presidency matters, as if....
3...you don't know that the president is not a king who can create major policies by fiat. Anti-abortionists and right-wing lunatics used to be dismissed by the GOP. But they voted and voted and voted and organized. They focused on states and Congress first. They built up....
4...the strength of their movement, until they finally WERE the base. Not all GOP crazies in Congress used to be crazy. The anti-abortion/right wing crazies got more and more of their kind into Congress, showed themselves to be a force, and suddenly - even GOP pols who used....
5...to belittle the loony side decided that, to keep office, they had to be loony too. And now the whole party is insane.

It is shocking that the lunatics have a greater understanding of how politics works than the progressives do. If Bernie was president, and SCOTUS stayed...
6...as is, NOTHING would happen. Progressives threw away SCOTUS in 2016 - often saying "I'm not voting for the Supreme Court!" - as if that was not a key part of policy. There is HUGE precedent on private contracts that must be overturned for MfA - and there is 0% chance SCOTUS..
7...filled with its policy-based justice majority, will overturn it. Had you voted for HRC - strategically working for long-term issues rather than a person - SCOTUS would be unbreakable majority democrat. A reversal of precedent on private contracts might be possible.....
8...and build up progressive power in Congress and state legislatures. Then, in 2028 - come crashing down with your power to get a more left president, maybe even a progressive. No matter WHO was elected, progressives would have a seat at the table....
9..I fear progressive problem is theyd would rather be right than victorious, rather attack those with even mildly different opinions than persuade. Theyd rather fight for one person than move political system their way

You cant win if you dont play a long-game. And you never do
