Consistent with the Governor's order for PA, the City clarifies that these are included as life-sustaining services: laundromats, veterinary hospitals, retail banks, cellphone repair, bike repair, emergency household repair, and extermination services for rodents and pests.
Grocery stores and other essential businesses should discourage leisure or idle conduct by customers and manage store occupancy to allow for social distancing.
If you believe that an establishment should be closed but is not, please contact Philly311 by dialing 3-1-1 or submit a report online: bit.ly/Philly311Reque…

We understand the significant impact closures have on businesses and workers. Tomorrow we'll announce details of our efforts to support businesses. For now, find resources and info here:

The pro-gun lobby has filed a lawsuit to stop ALL of the Governor’s restrictions on non–life-sustaining businesses, simply because gun stores were deemed non-essential.

The City of Philadelphia has filed a "friend of the court" brief in support of the Commonwealth.
The Governor has the authority to impose restrictions to safeguard the health of residents. Hundreds of businesses have been impacted, but the closures are necessary.

Frankly, we are dismayed by this frivolous suit and needless distraction in the midst of a global health crisis.
Even at a time of deadly pandemic, we continue to face the long-standing public health threat of daily gun violence in our city.

There is never a time for violence. But we need an end to this insanity now more than ever, when a virus threatens the health of every resident.
We all must stand up against acts of hate and bias. Victims of any crime should call 911. To report non-emergency hate crimes and bias incidents related to COVID-19, residents can contact our Commission on Human Relations (@PhillyPCHR) at 215-686-4670 or pchr@phila.gov.
Many have asked how we're caring for those facing homelessness. Our @PHLCityHomeless outreach teams continue to work with these communities and provide hygiene kits. They're also conducting basic screenings; if someone has COVID-19 symptoms, they connecting them to medical care.
All emergency and temporary housing services remain available. There, staff members focus on increased preventative measures. If someone becomes symptomatic in shelter, they are quarantined.
Our @PHLCouncil will hold an appropriations hearing Thursday, March 26. One agenda item: $85 million transfer to Managing Director's Office to support our COVID-19 response.

The public can submit a comment on this bill to the Chief Clerk’s Office at Michael.Decker@phila.gov.
Today, the @PHLPublicHealth reported 11 new cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus, for a total of 96 cases in Philadelphia. Some labs don't report numbers on the weekend, so there are likely more.
