Update from @CMOH_Alberta, Dr. Deena Hinshaw. Aggressive public health measures continue to be implemented to limit spread of #COVID19AB.
Forty-two additional cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 301. 18 individuals have been hospitalized and seven are receiving care in the ICU. There have been no additional deaths. #COVID19AB
AHS has launched a new text-based service to give Albertans encouragement and ease feelings of stress or anxiety. Text COVID19Hope to 393939. In response, you’ll receive daily texts on how to focus on healthy thinking or actions to help manage your mood. #COVID19AB #AlbertaCares
We have announced changes to our testing protocols for #COVID19. We will focus testing efforts on people who are hospitalized with respiratory illness and residents of continuing care and similar facilities. We will also be prioritizing testing for healthcare workers.
We’ve updated our self-isolation guidelines from 14 days to a minimum of 10 days following the onset of symptoms. If you are feeling well after 10 days from the onset of symptoms, you will be able to stop self-isolating, provided your symptoms have resolved.
Travellers returning from out of Canada will still need to self-isolate for 14 days upon their return as a precaution.
Learn more about these changes at: alberta.ca/self-isolation…
AHS has also made changes to minimize the risk of transmission. Starting this week staff, physicians & contractors at clinical healthcare sites will be screened before starting their shift. Any employee deemed not fit to work will be asked to return home and told to self-isolate.
To protect yourself and others: stay home if you’re sick, wash hands often, avoid touching your face & get information from reliable sources. Get daily #COVID19AB updates at alberta.ca/COVID19.
