basically at a standstill. Businesses are closed, beaches and hotels empty, hundreds of thousands out of work. Can DeSantis restore some sanity and get his state moving again while protecting at-risk Floridians? Some thoughts here:

Lots of hospital and ICU beds available with contingency plans should the system become overwhelmed. Some studies indicate UV rays help halt the spread. But the economic, educational, mental, and emotional wreckage from this unprecedented government power play matters, too.

Some scientists are finally starting to predict the number of COVID-19 cases in US before testing began a few weeks ago. This column suggests about 6 million people were infected btw January 1 and first week of March.
As I’ve tweeted/reported over the past few weeks, CDC data appears to confirm that conclusion. The red is reports of flu-like symptoms this season:

It has nothing to do with picking your stock fund over meemaw. From climate change/AGW to nutritional guidelines to baseless warnings on chemicals and food, we’ve been repeatedly and historically misled by government “experts” to fulfill political agendas. I get lots of people...
are either naive or ignorant to that fact. But those baseless warnings—how many climate predictions of doom have been wrong?—drive costly and burdensome policies. There’s a chance this will be the most egregious and destructive example yet. So ask lots of Qs and be skeptical.

It’s unclear why CDC hasn’t modeled how many cases were in US between late January to late February—and why no journo has asked for it.

1. Public Health and your personal health are not the same thing. The health of individuals and the health of the population are interdependent, but the strategies are different. The response to coronavirus (covid-19) in King County is a public health response.
The goal is to protect the community as a whole. Your role as an individual is to do your small part to cooperate in the larger project, for the good of the whole community. Think of it as part of your civic duty. A war effort without the war.

Coronavirus #COVID -19 appears to be jumping at a rate of 117 new cases per hour. Monitoring closely as this seems to indicate a faster rate of infection than was previously reported. Could be an anomaly. The deaths did not jump however... so that’s good.

First check to see if they bothered to add any variability whatsoever in the model they are using to supposedly report actual numbers from a complex system.

The mortality rate they want you to report is the - 0 day rate: Today's Confirmed Death total minus Today's Confirmed Case total.

This has not varied outside of 1/10th of 1% in the last 5 prints.

But even a minor adjustment of a few days in the mortality rate paints an entirely different picture
