4. the #SouthKorea's #digitalSurveillance system integrating #healthData,#localisation,#phonecameras,#creditcardsData, was established in 2015 for fighting #MERS: that surveillance system is still there. If we establish something along the same lines,it's unlikely we'll go back
5. politicians will tell us that the world is a dangerous place, fully interconnected: A butterfly flapping its wings in Beijing causes a storm in NY.
6. politicians will tell us that the poor guys eating meat from one of the Asian "wet markets",at the center of experts' concerns for such #COVID pandemic,can cause 1000s deaths in Milan and the collapse of entire Western economies.Politicians will tell us: we can't afford that
7. as thousands people have died in my country,#Italy is considering #SouthKorea (SK)-style #digitalSurveillance.No one knows which model we will adopt. No one knows whether we will go towards a model which integrates #HealthData,#Localisation,#CreditCards,#phonecameras,as in #SK
8. all I know is that we are in unexplored waters: we don't know what is going to happen to our economy and #NationalHealthSystem: it's possibile it will come out stronger and completely public as it was never before,but it's also possible that it won't end well
9. this is why protecting our #HealthData is important as never before, not just in #Italy which enjoy a good and public national health system, but everywhere. #HealthData are too important to be given away with such indifference and emotional approach
10. One final note: once data have been collected, they don't get destroyed. Sensitive data are gold and no one throw away gold. They will be used for purposes we couldn't even guess and all sorts of merchants will try to access, buy, steal them
