1/ Here's the Rub: to note similar times when someone who you like and trust - exhibits similar nonverbal behavior (e.g., in everyday scenarios) - If we fall victim to confirmation bias ...
2/ ... would most people then be able to see this behavior if we like the person to begin with? A lie? The insincerity? Manipulation? The Answer: Most of the time we would NOT be able to spot it. Body Language skills are tools of objectivity...
3/ ... We are most blind/vulnerable to deception when the person being dishonest is our friend/family member/someone who has established trust.

1/ THREAD: When say, "I love you" — are you *really* thinking about your love for this person? FACT: most people don't. It rapidly becomes a perfunctory act. Don't let this happen.

2/ If you're already guilty of this sometimes (most of the time?) — stop. Concentrate on your love as you're professing it. Feel it deeply. A similar phenomenon occurs with all emotions.

• 56% to 70% of World's population will contract #COVID19
• U.S. population is 330.5 million
• Mortality rate of 4.33% (current world average)
Thus, the realistic death numbers in the US will be: 8,013,964 — 10,017,45
2/ If we use the current US mortality rate of 1.30%, the deaths in the US will be between 2,406,040 — 3,007,550. This estimate range is unrealistically low because the US health system is not (yet) saturated/overtaxed, but it soon will be.
3/ If we calculate using Italy's current mortality rate of 9.26%, the death totals in the US will be between 17,138,408 — 21,423,010.

We should expect to see more talking head recommendations for how to alter the #voting process to address #coronavirus concerns. Voting by mail is going be a part of the solution.

Here's why I don't think it can be the whole solution for the #2020election

THREAD:
States should move to allow more voting by mail independent of recent developments. The @BPC_Bipartisan Task Force on #Elections recommends just that. We support moves by our friends at @voteathome to ensure all Americans have the option to vote by mail

That doesn't mean all states have taken the important steps to update laws and technology to administer an #election with a very high % of #voting by mail, and it's unlikely many can get up to speed before the #2020election. Many state legislatures have already adjourned

Spent some time with a startup struggling with #hiring quality talent in #Bangalore. The story is quite common so thought of putting them in a thread.
The startup shared these (usual) problems: 1. Not finding skilled talent 2. Salary range mis-match 3. Drop offs in hiring process 4. Only 1/5 offers were converting to a joining
#1 skill mismatch: The HR was instructed to look for 2+ "solid" experience on #rubyonrails and would reject anyone else without looking at their growth curve. Moreover, she was non-technical but was also doing the initial technical screening (on ROR).
