Over the last week several instances of lists of persons quarantined have been made public raising privacy risks and leading to second order harms. Today, we have requested the @MoHFW_INDIA @MoHUA_India @N_Hiranandani to issue advisories against it.

These lists are being shared through digital means. This increases the field of dissemination and can lead to acute harm. Worryingly some state governments (Delhi, Chandigarh, Karnataka, Rajasthan) are publishing such information pro-actively.

Such lists enable discrimination, denial of essential healthcare and food items and even leading to instances where the quarantined people are being placed under pressure to be evicted by landlords. This may be addressed by @MoHUA_India @N_Hiranandani

The Delhi Police has been using drones for surveillance of crowds for quite some time now. The first reports emerged in December 2019 when it was reported that anti-CAA protests had been surveilled via drones to keep a close eye on the protesters.

Without 4G internet services, people of Jammu & Kashmir are being deprived of:

❌Telemedicine
❌Access to latest studies, protocols and manuals for doctors
❌Access to accurate and real time information for patients
❌Effective public outreach with videos in vernacular languages
The internet slowdown in Jammu & Kashmir violates the fundamental right to healthcare which is non-derogable. The region already has 7 confirmed COVID 19 cases and the Govt must act soon to provide doctors all available tools including high speed internet to contain the virus.

India is undertaking major military reforms to enhance its capability to fight possible wars with Pakistan & China as PM Modi settles into his 2nd term. The reforms are redrawing military concepts & junking plans that prevailed for over 80 years in slow to reform institutions.
They are also moving forces up much closer to the front lines for quicker mobilization. Previously, this used to happen only when war was imminent.

Breaking: Large terrorist attack in #India. More than 40 Indian Reserve Police Force personnel were killed and many others injured when Pakistani backed terrorists targeted a convoy with a car bomb at Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir's today, ndtv.com/india-news/15-…
Reports suggested that the vehicle used by the terrorists was a Mahindra Scorpio carrying more than 350 kg of explosives in what is the worst attack ever on security personnel in the state.
Sources said that terrorists triggered the car bomb while 78 vehicles with over 2,500 reserve police men were on the Srinagar-Jammu highway. The stretch on which the incident occurred had been sanitized in the morning & authorities called it a serious breach of security.

Over the last week, protests have erupted across #Sudan, with NISS intelligence service stations being burnt and reports of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) defending protestors in some locations. This is a developing thread for remotely monitoring the situation, h/t @trevorsnapp.
In Atbara, for example, protesters have set fire to the headquarters of ruling the National Congress Party, led by President Omar al-Bashir. There's plenty of visual evidence of the unrest, such as this video. Geolocation: 17.694190, 34.001319 (google.com/maps/place/17%…).
