1/ A quick thread about something positive. A week ago I tossed out the idea of finding ways to connect with isolated seniors and people with disabilities. I called it #PandemicPals because I'm bad at branding.

2/ I've now connected more than 150 people with assisted-living facilities and organizations that work with people with disabilities, and the letters and cards going out and the general acts of kindness are inspiring.

3/ People are getting their whole family involved, turning their kids loose on this as a project, networking with their book clubs and knitting clubs and drinking buddies and generally doing some amazing things. Isolated people need this. People sending cards and letters need it.

4/ And the best part of this is it's easy. I'm just acting as a conduit, getting addresses from groups and facilities that want cards/letters and slinging those out to people who want to volunteer. This is something that can be done anywhere, which is the point of this thread.

5/ Replicate this #PandemicPals idea. Reach out through your own social networks. If you're another journalist, steal this idea. I take no ownership. Run with it.

And please keep spreading the word. We will stay sane and better connected by doing good things.
