#Thread: Over the past several days, @AndrewScheer and @CPC_HQ have been sharing misinformation about Canada’s tax system. This is deeply concerning. When politicians ignore experts, and choose to favour rhetoric over facts, we all pay the price. So here are the facts:
Scheer is wrong when he says we raised taxes on the middle class. We cut taxes, providing $13.3 billion in direct tax relief. Today, middle class families are more than $2,000 better off per year, than they were in 2015. Source: @OECD & @FinanceCanada 
Scheer is wrong when he says we raised taxes on low-income families. They are, in fact, substantially better off: low income seniors now receive $2,000 more per year, and 825,000 Canadians have been lifted out of poverty. Source: @StatCan_EN
And he’s wrong when he says people are worse off. The only people receiving less support are the wealthiest Canadians. That’s because one of the first things we did was raise taxes on the top 1% in order to lower them for the middle class. Source: @FinanceCanada
Our plan is working, and while more needs to be done, spreading misinformation for the sake of a catchy tag-line is not the way to get there. While Andrew Scheer focuses on misleading Canadians, we will stay focused on making life more affordable.
