I’ve tried to stress the danger that #coronavirus can pose to relatively young and healthy people - but ALL the #COVID19 stories break my heart, including this one involving 80-somethings married 52 years who died within hours of each other.

"Congratulations! David is eligible to be part of a special FDA drug trial - because he's experiencing life-threatening lung failure & hooked up to a ventilator."
Specifically (emphasis added): "You are agreeing to the emergency use of clazakizumab... based on a small number of patients who developed similar LIFE-THREATENING PULMONARY FAILURE [from] COVID-19."

These are very conscious choices. Before he was a Twitter star and @realDonaldTrump antagonist, @gtconway3d was known as one of the best brief writers at Wachtell Lipton.
When I was a junior associate and he was a partner, I drafted part of a brief for George. I fancied myself a good writer - I won a brief-writing prize at @YaleLawSch, served on @YaleLJournal, clerked for a top judge - but GTC made my draft ten times better.
More importantly, after the brief was filed George took the time to sit down with me and explain his edits - a master class in legal writing. And on some level I find that even more impressive.

Growing up, I was under verbal abuse from my mother and grandmother, I attended a church that was cultish and legalistic. I was constantly torn down from all sides. It was painful. I could it escape it. It was a reason I enlisted, to escape it.
Yet, the thoughts followed me into the bowls of depression and anxiety. I wanted to take my life multiple times. I was living in rebellious sin with hatred against my mom and grandmother. My mom died of Cancer while I was enlisted. I saw her before she passed.
Tears and the weight of pain made me crumple onto the ground. I said what I said to her while she remained conscious. I wish I could of said more. I never talked to my grandmother again, she later died some years ago.
