These are very conscious choices. Before he was a Twitter star and @realDonaldTrump antagonist, @gtconway3d was known as one of the best brief writers at Wachtell Lipton.
When I was a junior associate and he was a partner, I drafted part of a brief for George. I fancied myself a good writer - I won a brief-writing prize at @YaleLawSch, served on @YaleLJournal, clerked for a top judge - but GTC made my draft ten times better.
More importantly, after the brief was filed George took the time to sit down with me and explain his edits - a master class in legal writing. And on some level I find that even more impressive.
Many Biglaw litigation partners are excellent legal writers; how many take the time to teach and mentor younger lawyers and junior colleagues? Because @gtconway3d did. (Saving some of my plasma for you, George!)
