There’s a lot of talk about @BernieSanders decision to stay in the race.

I think he needs to stay in and I’m going to outline why in this thread.

As a people’s movement, so many of our positions are overwhelmingly supported by the majority (cont.)

Medicare For All
15 dollar min wage
Green New Deal
Marijuana legalization and criminal justice reform
Ban on #Fracking
Billionaires and corporations paying their fair share of taxes.

Americans support these ideas and they need to be fought for.

Especially in this pandemic.

It is so clear that we need a fundamental shift in the way our government and our society works.

@joebiden’s campaign represent NONE of these things.

But we have enough delegates to create real leverage in the party. We have to organize that leverage and keep pushing.

Even if @BernieSanders does not win- which he still can- there will be no party unity without the @JoeBiden campaign making concessions on at least some of this agenda.

Luckily, there is a mechanism for this. The platform hearings and the writing of the democratic platform-

gives us a chance to figure out how to go ahead. It gives us a moment to organize and battle this out. It gives us a chance to find common ground and find a unity that is borne of respect for the people and the democratic process.

The platform is NOT meaningless.

The Platform shapes the dialogue going forward. The ideas in this campaign- the popular positions of @BernieSanders - are the only way we can win.

The @DNC cannot simply railroad the progressive movement. That’s a path to LOSING. If we understand that we have a way forward,

through the process, then we can move to further the people’s agenda. And we must.

This is why the folks calling for “unity” through Bernie dropping out are mistaken. Progresssives are angry and upset- forcing Bernie out will make us more angry.

We need representation.

The Party and the process doesn’t seem to respect that. That’s why @SenSanders needs to stay IN. So we can organize and force the process to recognize the will of the people. Bernie staying in- win or lose- is the only way the people can continue to organize effectively.

And it is Medicare for All and $15 bucks an hour and a Green New Deal that we see so clearly now- because of this #CoronavirusPandemic - that we need so desperately.

That means we need to ORGANIZE NOW. We need to be prepared to fight for our agenda. Win or lose.

We have the ability to fight for our demands. That’s what we gotta do. We need to make it clear to the @dnc that they have the choice - create policies and a platform that gives the people a voice! That means getting out the vote for Bernie NOW and pushing our campaign agenda.

Any candidacy that ignores the will of the people will lose. We need @BernieSanders IN.
We need the people’s agenda IN.

So please - neolibs- RESEPCT US. See why we are the path to victory. Stop the bullying and start gettting smart.
And progressives get ready to ORGANIZE.
