To give you a sense of what HHCC experiences daily, here are 5 families and a description of what they currently need help with. This is a long post so please bear with me. Just know that these families have already exhausted any and all other avenues available to them for help.
Family 1 (5 People): Needs $1300.00 rent (Utilities included) by August 1st 2020 or they will be served an eviction notice. Theyre a new family that arrived to YYC pre covid and had jobs but were laid off and the business hey were working at shut down completely and went bankrupt
Family 2 (8 People): In need of rent (Utilities included) in the amount of $1700.00. They have four special needs children who are severely autistic and with the program cuts and government firing of teachers and aides they have been...
... told they now have to be reevaluated for possible weekend respite. Father laid off and is on CERB but that is not enough to cover all the bills and expenses. They desperately need help. Especially after how government programs and assistance have been cancelled.
Family 3 (5 People): In need of help with Enmax. They fell behind in Utility payments due to job loss and Enmax put them on a repayment schedule without their consent....
They tried to change the payment schedule but were told that wasn’t possible because that was what they committed to (When they didn’t)
They have to pay $1683.18 by August 4th, 2020 or they will face cut off and then eviction from their landlord due to not having utilities in their name. (It’s a part of their lease agreement as utilities are not included in their monthly rent)
Family 4 (4 People) In need of food hamper, diapers & wipes and formula. Single mom who is trying to get her Child tax situation sorted out but she can’t find her ex anywhere. She has 7 to 10 days of food left.
Family 5 (3 People): In need of food hamper and partial rent help. They escaped a domestic situation and are in need of a food hamper and rental help in the amount of: $860.00
I have explained a bit of what is going on and have been told I can share more of these families stories in DM’s or if you want to contact my by phoning me, Jennifer (Jen) at: 403-608-7224
We are a small organization that relies 100% on donations. 💯 of those donations go towards the many families we have helped since COVID-19 has hit our province of Alberta.
If you or anyone can find it in you to help these families, you can send us an etransfer to:

HarvestHillsCaresCalgary@Gmail.Com

We will not stop #Helping others We will continue to #HelpOneFamily #HelpOneIndividual #HelpOneSenior, #HelpEveryone....We will #Help No Matter What.
I should mention that we’ve exhausted all avenues for help in regards to these families. These are just a few of the many that contact us for help

Many organizations/offices/people and groups are overwhelmed with the amount of requests for assistance. If anyone can help DM/Call

This morning I saw something I will NEVER forget.

We were at a store in Southeast #Calgary. We were shopping for some groceries when my stepson saw someone take a package of meat and put it under their shirt and then slowly walk over to their cart. #Food #Hungry #Alberta #yyc
Someone then took it upon themselves to legit walk over there and publicly shame the person. Sure people came to the person who took the package of meat but the other entitled bigot just wouldn’t stop.

I stepped in. I was NOT going to let another #Calgarian be treated like that.
I went over to the person and asked if I could help at all. The entitled bigot told me to kick rocks (in not so nice words) but I wouldn’t let that phase me.

I told the person in a loud voice that we would have no problem buying them some groceries no questions asked. #Groceries

⚠️ This Tweet Has Graphic Images ⚠️

Today I was driving in the NE in and around the neighbourhoods when I was about to turn around and head home when I saw someone flag me down.

A older gentleman and his girlfriend asked me if I had any water or anything to eat. @cmcalgary
I pulled over, put my flashers on. I got out to grab them some water and snacks and saw the older gentleman limping & in obvious pain.

When I say hobbling I mean every few steps he stopped to catch his breath because he was in so much pain.

That’s when I said I’d come to them.
I grabbed some bottles of water, snacks, some backpacks, and asked them if they needed anything else.

He told me his bandages had dried to his skin and that he was refused care at a place here in Calgary when he asked for a dressing change.

What a freaking night last night was. If I feel broken after what I experienced and witnessed last night….what do people who sleep rough and outside feel like?

#yyc #yyccc #coldwave #coldweather #Calgary @Crackmacs @GrannyGTArp @EveryAlbertan @Hell_Berta #ableg #yeg
The things we heard from people last night were heartbreaking.

We used narcan 12 individual times tonight.

We bandaged 18 suffering from Frostbite.

We handed out over 100 snack packs
We handed out kits & supplies for ppl that didn’t want to use the bus or go to the DI/Alpha House.

We used up EVERY wound care & frostbite care kits. We used all 60 of them!

We will be out in full force but need everyone’s help.

This is hard to write but it is true for many. What I’m about to say is a harsh reality of what people go through.

What I am about to say is also the reason why a lot of people don’t ask for help.

People do not ask for help because of the fears and stigmas that exist.

#hope
Here Is Something to think about,

What if you were a #singleparent with a #child

You work full time for $15.00/hr

You take home roughly $960.00 per paycheck (bi-weekly after taxes)

#singleparent #parenting #Blessed #grateful #calgary #calgarylife #alberta #yyc

@EveryAlbertan
Your bills per month:

$1,000 or more for rent
$150 or more for cable/internet
$250 or more for utilities
$150 per month for car insurance

So let’s do the math

You bring home about
$1,920.00 a month

Your bills average about $1,500(give or take)
