2. You need to consider that most school bldgs are more than 50 yrs old. A local HS built circa 1970 has narrow slit like windows that don't open. So much for #Ventilation! #Classrooms are small & don't allow for social distancing. This is further complicated by having....
3. 20-25 #Students per class. Several yrs ago a friend had 32 students in her K-class due to budget cuts! I don't know the number in her class now but I doubt there's been a great change in the number. The kids who take buses to school are on top of each other all the time.
4. Social distancing will be very difficult to enforce on the buses. These are just a few of the issues I can think of off the top of my head! Since the fall my nephew's students split time between being in school & remote learning. His school dept keeps changing due to.....
5. the #COVID19 circumstances! I agree that kids need school. The teachers I know want to teach but they want to do it in a safe environment. Let's not forget that kids haven't been in large groups since last spring. Perhaps that has played a role in kids not getting infected...
6. as much as adults. What will happen once students are in school every day? Please include reps from teachers' unions in making plans to reopen schools. Teachers are in the trenches every day & can make recommendations that are based on the reality of today's classroom!
