FBI, DHS, and NCTC leaders are testifying before a House committee about worldwide threats, both cyber and non-cyber: homeland.house.gov/hearing/world-…
I'll be tracking FBI Director Chris Wray's comments about cyber issues, including encryption.

Wray's agents have that Texas shooter's iPhone at Quantico and they still haven't been able to open it.

Will he bring that up and push Congress to address encryption?
Wray, asked about Yahoo hackers, said the USG wanted to bring those indictments — even if they likely can't arrest most of the suspects — "to highlight to the public the importance of being vigilant on this threat."
Wray says Yahoo indictments reflect "one of the more dangerous emerging threats, which we refer to as a blended threat," where governments hire criminals. "You think of almost like mercenaries being used to commit cyberattacks.”
Wray: “We are seeing an emergence of that kind of collaboration." Previously, governments and criminals worked separately. "Now there’s this collusion, if you will, that's occurring on a number of instances.”
Wray says the FBI's cyber experts currently have to spend too much time helping with non-cyber investigations where there's a cyber component that regular agents don't understand.
Wray: "If we could raise the basic level of cyber literacy [across the FBI], then we could really have the most talented people focus on the really sophisticated, cutting-edge stuff. And that’s where I’m really hoping to take the organization."
