/ Welcome to Wednesday in the independent republic of Brexitlandia
/ Last night with the notable exception of some 93 MPs, Parliament did not vote for an amendment (proposed by @thomasbrake) to the Withdrawal Bill regarding continued membership of the SM. 😤
/ Some observers find this odd given one can stay in the SM without being in the EU. Odder still is the Tory party was key in leading the development of the SM and leaving the SM is likely to lead to job losses. 🤮
/ Some would also be confused by Labour largely abstaining on such a vote even though they are for the "many, not the few". The cynical observer might observe they are more interested in power than preserving jobs. 🤮🤮
/ After all the SM is the world's largest market and happens to be on the UK's doorstep. Unless Liam Fox can find a way to tow the UK closer to the USA and Asia that quirk of geography will remain unchanged. And geography plays quite a large role in trade. 🙄
/ But reassuringly @LiamFox has just said that the arrangements with the EU should be "virtually identical" to the ones we have now. I am not sure if he understands how the EU works or that you cannot get the same benefits of being in while being out 🤪
/ A similar problem seems to afflict the Labour front bench who want to be part of a (not "the") single market 🧐
/ Still I guess we will all need to learn the hard way even if some of us already know this and have tried pointing this out😡
/ Today is a vote on amendment 7 giving Parl. the right to vote on the final deal & there is some hope Parl. may actually do the right thing 🙏. Given the cabinet does not know what end deal it wants it seems reasonable that Parliament should not be limited in advance 🤐
/ Gov is proposing that Parl be involved by being guaranteed a chat about the deal at some point maybe perhaps. Given the Gov record on impact assessments and telling the truth, most observers would regard this proposal as no more than a statement of intent by @DavidDavisMP 🤥
/ Given Cretinus Maximus @DavidDavisMP said Friday's Great Capitulatory Fudge was not binding but is now binding, some may think Parl should be able to also tell Gov to negotiate different terms if the ones the Govenrment agrees to turn out, in layman's terms, to be a bit shit
/ Meanwhile the UK keeps forgetting about the European Parliament & @guyverhofstadt even though the UK has MEPs still. Which is funny because the European Parliament will also get a vote on the deal. Which is funny if the UK Parliament does not 🤡🤡🤡
/ The passing observer would also assume not pissing the EP off would be a wise move. But as Cretinus Maximus does not know very much nor is very clever he is not aware of this. Inevitably the EP are planning on making it clear to him 🧐
/ Those familiar with Brexitlandia may query how the UK intends to persuade the world to give it beneficial deals if its Government lies to its Parliament about impact assessment and the nature of the Great Capitulatory Fudge....🤥
/ for example by saying the £40bn or so settlement is conditional on a future trade deal when article 50 and the Great Capitualtory Fudge (para 96) make clear that is not the case. At some point some people could get quite cross that they have been lied to 😡😤🤬
/ Which takes us neatly on to the admission that a millionaire indicated that Vote Leave suggest he not donate to them but instead some 23 year old fashion student the money instead who then spent it on AggregateIQ. theguardian.com/politics/2017/…
/ The curious reader would note this same student is also under investigation for being given money by Vote Leave. Some would think perhaps Vote Leave cheated the electoral rules and that @ElectoralCommUK were spending too much time drinking tea and not doing their job 😴😴😴😴
/ It would seem odd for a Gov to take the strictest interpretation of a non-binding referendum if the referendum had been corrupted by Vote Leave (some of whose main leaders are now Brexit ministers). 🤔🤫
/ In English terms that is not 🏏& would suggest a kamikaze approach to leaving the economic & regulatory structures that underpin the UK trading arrangements without any Parliamentary scrutiny of the final deal is being driven by something other than the interests of the UK💣
/ But to suggest that would be the act of a traitor and saboteur with no respect for democracy or the will of the people. ☮️
