This was a referral by Mueller to the FBI & US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, suggesting this is NOT part of Mueller's investigation but rather Mueller obtained evidence relevant to potential crimes outside his scope 2/
That suggests that there is a second federal criminal investigation focusing on Michael Cohen based in NY under traditional (non-Special Counsel) structures 3/

Thread: Let's talk a bit about "rent-seeking." It's a term you rarely if ever hear used by corporate big media.

We do bring it up a lot, and many have asked me to explain what rent-seeking is and why it matters, particularly in respect to the 17th Amendment.

Here we go...
Put simply, rent-seeking is when an individual or entity uses company, organizational or individual resources to obtain an economic gain, typically a competitive advantage. But there's a second aspect to rent-seeking, which is equally important...
Rent-seeking doesn't require reciprocity, meaning wealth created from the gain (e.g. competitive advantage) benefits only the rent-seeker, not society as a whole. In fact, their interests often hurt avg. citizens.

An example is a company lobbying lawmakers for loan subsidies.

He doesn’t understand how the “Law and Order” GOP morphed into the attack-the-FBI & obstruct justice GOP.


🙋‍♀️I can explain. The problem is how he’s defining Law and Order.
1/ Remember Watergate? Iran-Contra? Nixon’s obstruction of justice? Scooter Libby’s perjury?

GOP leadership has a history of disregarding laws.

Conservatives also never liked the idea of regulating banks and industry.
They were never the party of Mortgage Broker Law and Order.
2/ So what kind of Law and Order did the GOP embrace?

According to this law review article, Nixon and Reagan’s Tough on Crime policy was a “backlash against the Civil Rights Movement."

In a partisan vote led by Chairman @DevinNunes, the HPSI voted to release a four page classified memo that details alleged surveillance abuses by @FBI & @TheJusticeDept.

HPSCI, which along with Senate counterpart (#SSCI), was formed 40 years ago in wake of #ChurchCommittee, #PikeCommittee& #RockefellerCommission, which dealt with a variety of abuses by the Intelligence Community, acted in an unprecedented manner by invoking Rule X, clause 11(f)
