If "sex" is a legally "ambiguous" word, then all laws against "sex discrimination" are also ambiguous. Companies can say they didn't know the internal "gender identity" of the woman they failed to promote, so they did not engage in discrimination.
But even more chilling, if the definition of "female" legally means "identifies with stereotypes associated with females" that means that women calling themselves women are "identifying" as subordinate. They are declaring their full agreement that they have "lady brains."
If a woman agrees she has a "lady brain," she agrees that she isn't as good as men in math and science, that she can't be an effective leader because she is more emotional than men, that she is born to take on underpaying "caregiver" jobs. She agrees to be discriminated against.
So say she wants to escape those stereotypes, so she decides to "identify" as male. No one loves this more than companies, who now get to discriminate against women as much as they want because, hey, she said she's a guy!
One can see how enshrining sex stereotypes into law, making sex stereotypes the LEGAL definition of male and female, manages to screw women over no matter how they "identify." Gee, who would be ok with not having to worry about sex discrimination anymore?
