1) Oh, you mean the KKK? Because that is the KKK marching there in that picture. Early 1920 Democrats. See, what you fail to realize is that the KKK, as espoused by Democrats were the first bout with identity politics. White identity, but identity politics nonetheless.
2) Yeahhhhh bitch. You don't get to just walk in here and drop that and expect to come away burn-free. Oh nooooo. Your racist ass is getting allllll the attention. And lube. Plenty of lube.
3) theatlantic.com/politics/archi… "But the Klan was easily at its most popular in the United States during the 1920s, when its reach was nationwide, its members disproportionately middle class"
4) "nationally it was the Democratic Party that was most associated with the Klan because of intense infighting at its 1924 Presidential nominating convention" depts.washington.edu/civilr/kkk_pol…
5) See, what happened here isn't that Trump adopted "America First" because of what the KKK used it as. What happened instead was that because of the civil rights era it was shown that ultimately the population of the United States had REJECTED white identity politics.
6) The people of the United States still does, see: Charlottesville, where EVERYONE agreed that the white supremacists were assholes. The difference of opinion was that we disagreed on how many of them were there, and whether the other side were assholes too.
7) Fun fact: Apparently calling both white supremacists and the masked rioters assholes is still supporting white supremacy. Thanks for THAT talking point, you fascist moron.
8) What Democrats have done is that they haven't abandoned identity politics, they've simply changed their identity politics to be anything BUT white males. thedailybeast.com/heres-why-demo…
9) As a result, the Democrats believe that anyone that DOESN'T agree with their identity politics is themselves racist/sexist/bigoted/transphobic/etc. Just like how anyone who disagreed with their white identity politics in the early to mid 1900's was a... 'black person lover'.
10) So no, the Democrats have NOT changed tactics, they have NOT changed ideologies. They simply have changed their target audience. They shift in the 1980's away from the southern states and into urban strongholds (while maintaining their urban strongholds in the south mind you)
11) Otherwise known as the great 'southern switch' was simply Democrats abandoning the places they could no longer win and focusing their efforts where their target audience was located. Ever notice how much rural red is in otherwise blue states? Yeahhhhhhhh.
12) "B-b-but you took a slogan!" Dumbass, in the 1920's the United States was EXTREMELY isolationist, both in politics and economically. We had just gotten through World War 1, people in the United States didn't want to get dragged into another World War.
13) Woodrow Wilson, ever hear of him? Of course you didn't, you don't know any Democrat presidents before Bill 'Bimbo-dicker' Clinton. Took office 1913, got the US into World War 1, and as a result the Democrats were at their WEAKEST. BOTH PARTIES WERE ISOLATIONIST.
14) Democrats had to virtue signal as HARD AS POSSIBLE to be isolationist because everyone hated them for getting the United States into World War 1. "America First" is an isolationist slogan that KKK people were carrying to promote alongside their white identity politics.
15) Historical context, @DFHobbs, DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT.
16) Going into 2016, we had NAFTA, Paris Climate Accord and TPP negotiations ongoing, we were losing industries overseas left and right, the Democrats had abandoned isolationism and American exceptionalism entirely and sold the country chunk by chunk.
17) Barack Obama would not let us mine our own fossil fuels to make us energy independent. The Democrats were relying on identity politics, and had abandoned the very concept of isolationism or even taking America's well-being into account in geopolitical decisions.
18) So yeah. Trump reused America First. Obviously we haven't gone full isolationist, but his foreign policy plans that he has put forwards and acted on mean that we hold our allies to the standards set in agreements. We negotiate deals to the best interest of the US.
19) None of that has anything to do with identity politics. Just like America First didn't have anything to do with identity politics in the 1920's. You just took a single picture, completely out of historical context, and tried to link it to the Democrats of the KKK.
20) Any response? Any rebuttal? Anything at all besides 'BUT MUH IDENTITY POLITICS! MUH RUSSIA! MUH RACIST TRUMP!'? You may respond now. If I don't find you amusing or at all informative you're blocked. My hopes are not high. Lucky for you, neither are my standards for liberals.
