1) Americans have a constitutional right to own property & not have it taken without compensation (Read the 5th Amend). But there are laws & requirements for purchases, contracts, & usage.
Let's look at automobiles . . .
Register it
License it
Be of a certain age
Pass a written test
Demonstrate proficiency
Become a licensed user
Follow applicable laws
Insure others against misuse
And . . .
Everyone, incuding gun owners & @NRA member in America today, that drive on America's street, must adhere to these laws or face the prescribed penalties.
It is designed to limit ownership & usage by those deemed irresponsible, reckless, & to restrict/reduce unlawful usage.
It's done for safety & the greater good.
Sometimes special licenses are required, or 'where' they can be used is restricted.
These restrictions are purchase considerations.
The 2nd Amend is no more powerful or applicable than the 5th Amend, yet no one is suggesting laws governing vehicles is a threat to property ownership!
Law Makers - Apply similar, logical, common sense laws to gun ownership. It's time! Enough have died, suffered, & mourned!
Well, consider this:
• Millions more own/drive cars
• The nature of the process (speed, shared roadways, & constant proximity) increases the risks.
The only certain way to insure more will succumb to gun violence unnecessarily is to listen to the @NRA & do nothing.
Unacceptable!
