Advertisers “say they had no idea YouTube was allowing their advertising to appear” on InfoWars.

#BS and a pox on Google and these corporations.

InfoWars has peddled in untuth since before SandyHook. Why get a conscience now?
money.cnn.com/2018/03/03/tec…
This is #BS because advertisers can specify the types of content with which they don’t want to be associated.

And it’s #BS because Google has allowed YouTube to become a cesspool of lies (“but we’re just a platform!”).
Google has allowed YouTube to be inundated with bot/AI-generated content further calling #BS on the “but we didn’t know” excuse

“We didn’t know” could very well be true while being a lie of omission.

That is: imperfect knowledge due to ACTIVE decision not to know/act.

Bah.
This could not be happening to a nicer guy. Ahem.

According to @CNN, Google "reprimanded the conspiracy theory site and Jones for violating its community guidelines" for saying the Parkland students were crisis actors. Jones led the claims that Sandy Hook was a hoax, so why now, @Google?

Google started acting on #infoWars content earlier this week:

Holy shit. @USATODAY normalized #infoWars on its editorial page.

"The termination came just two days after USA Today—the country's highest circulated newspaper, gave Corsi a major platform on its op-ed page."

newsweek.com/youtube-delete…
InfoWars got its second "strike" post-Parkland this week, which meant Google was suspending the account's ability to upload new content. Three strikes within three months means permanent termination.

The Alex Jones video accusing Parkland students of being crisis actors was "the top trending video on the site" according to @RollingStone

This subject matter is the bread-and-butter of Info Wars channel, so Google's sudden change of heart is a surprise
rollingstone.com/politics/news/…
Google's behavior comes in response to "money talks" -- nothing to do with the company's vaunted early mantra of "do no harm."

rollingstone.com/politics/news/…
"As loathsome and dangerous as Jones' schtick has become, it would be a mistake to think of his newly "public-minded" enemies in Big Tech as benevolent protectors."

ABSOLUTELY.

Just as @USAToday should be ashamed at this:

“If [YouTube] accounts are getting deleted at the last minute because people are angry and news organizations are digging into this, should these accounts have existed in the first place?” @d1gi in @nytimes
