Honestly, the boy who read @WrinkleInTime in 6th grade is so excited to finally see the movie this weekend, because he saw himself in Meg, and it never crossed his mind that she wasn’t like him—he just knew he felt how she did and needed to be reminded that he was not powerless.
When I met @MadeleineLEngle 10 years later, as a college student serving as her host for a day, she reminded me again: anyone who feels lost or directionless has power within them. Darkness is fought on many fronts, big & small, but we have to choose to fight. #WrinkleInTime
I’m grateful I had the example of Meg, Vicky, Poly, Camilla, Calvin, Charles, & so many other strong characters from her connected world. @MadeleineLEngle’s own life, too, stands as a testimony to being true to who you were created to be and use your unique voice as only YOU can.
So as I prepare to take my own 6th grader to see @ava and @alittlejelee’s unique version of @MadeleineLEngle’s story, I am ready for it to be different than how I imagined it so long ago. And that’s ok. Because the story of @WrinkleInTime is needed now more than ever. #BeAWarrior
And I will tell my sons and daughters to “Tesser Well” (as @MadeleineLEngle always inscribed copies of the book) in hopes that as they travel to where they are needed most to fight the darkness, they will use their gifts and their faults, their faith and their love—and triumph.
