2. The legislative task presents at a national level offers an opportunity for Local Government to stake some claims. The local elections give US the opportunity to scuttle that plan. Put simply, Local Councilors have an eye on a bit of a power grab of their own here. #ABTV
3. Local authorities will have to take powers from Brussels (well, London) if Brexit plans are to be successful - the Govt doesn't have many options to implement the legislative power grab from our sovereign parliament - the task is just too vast. #ABTV
4. The Commons Select Committee on Communities and Local Government has already invited written submissions from loacl authorities during its ‘Brexit and Local Government Inquiry’, whilst investigating which powers local authorities could take as they are returned from Brussels.
5. Local authorities will be rubbing their hands and we should be recognising the opportunity we have during 3rd May elections. Govts already rely on LAs to implement many laws and policy decisions. Just imagine the type of mutiny Pro-EU councilors could reep on Tory exit plans.
6. The Tory government's power will be massively curtailed if Pro-EU councilors are their long arm to implementing our departure from the EU. This affects investment, development, the environment & economic funding for local authorities - it is their opening to local business.
7. For regional economies & their businesses - LAs clients - a shift of investment and development decision making could be significant. It will have even more of a significant effect on Brexit. Pro-EU councilors could help get us back IN faster.
6. This is our opportunity to stick to fingers up to the EUW Bill and its anachronistic, undemocratic Henry VIII power grap from our sovereign parliament - our sovereign nation. VOTE TACTICALLY. That doesn't mean voting for Labour because Corbyn is a Brexiteer. VOTE PRO-EU. #ABTV
